During my sophomore year of college shortly after my 20th birthday I nearly attempted to end my life. Instead, I called my dad, and because of me he knows what it feels like to talk his child out of killing themselves. In the year and a half between that moment and beginning my thesis I experienced a great deal of guilt for what I had nearly done. This piece is based on Henry Fuseli’s 1781 painting, Dido, and the myth which inspired it.
